فجأةً، قرَّرَ الغرابُ أن يصيرَ مغنِّيًا. انطلقَ يقلِّد أصواتَ الحيواناتِ، فصارَ يزأرُ ويموءُ ويَعْوي وينقُّ. لكنَّه عندما سمعَ شدوَ العندليبِ، اعترفَ لنفسِهِ قائلًا: «هكذا يكونُ الغناءُ، فإنْ لم يكنْ شَجيًّا، فأيُّ فائدَةٍ تُرجَى منهُ؟». قرَّرَ الغرابُ أن يتركَ الغناءَ ويختارَ عملًا آخر له، يناسبُهُ ويبرَعُ بهِ.

 

Suddenly, the crow decided to become a singer. He started imitating the sounds of animals, so he started roaring, meowing, howling and purring. But when he heard the sound of the nightingale, he confessed to himself, saying, “So is singing, and if it is not melodious, what benefit can be obtained from it?” The crow decided to give up singing and choose another job for him that suits him and is good at it.
